Stepping Into the Shadows: My Rogue Cosplay at the Kent Magical Market

Published on 17 September 2025 at 07:14

The Kent Magical Market was the perfect place to let the Blackthorn Banshee rogue step out of the shadows and into the crowd. Inspired by my new World of Warcraft rogue character Sable, I wanted to create a look that felt true to the class — stealthy, practical, but with that touch of menace and mystery that makes rogues so irresistible.

This was my first time bringing this character to life in full cosplay at a market, and it felt like walking straight out of Azeroth and into the witchy stalls and curious crowds. Every piece of the outfit was chosen with purpose, from the corset to the dagger, and it all came together in a way that felt powerful, dark, and very me.

The Outfit Breakdown

Corset & Shoulders — This piece was the heart of the costume, giving me the strong, structured rogue silhouette. The high neck strap and studs on the shoulder piece add that armoured edge without being bulky.

Both the corset and shoulders were purchased from Amazon

Black Long-Sleeve & Leggings Base Layer — A simple fitted black top from my wardrobe, perfect for layering. Light enough for moving around markets without overheating, but dark enough to keep that “blend into the shadows” look.

Both the long sleeved top and leggings were purchased from Peacocks.

Belt, Hitches & Accessories — My belt setup wasn’t just about looks — it gave me places to hang pouches, charms, and of course, a weapon or two. I wanted it to look like a market rogue’s toolbelt, ready for whatever mischief the day brought.

For these pieces I had:

All items were purchased from Amazon

Fishnet Gloves & Wrist Wraps — I’ve always thought rogues should have their hands free but protected, so I added black fishnet sleeves layered with leather cuff straps. They gave a hint of grit while staying practical for handling coins, trinkets, or the occasional dagger.

Gloves and wrist wraps are both from Amazon.

The Dagger — No rogue is complete without their blade. I carried a dagger prop with a dark hilt, perfect for photos but safe enough for market wandering. Holding it really helped me sink into the rogue mindset.

Accessories — I layered with jewellery from my own collection. Every rogue needs a charm, after all.

Necklaces are from Wild Lily and Greenteam Jewellery.

I also added a real fox tail and hare paw which came from Dead Impressive Taxidermy, a trader that I met at the Kent Magical Market.

Hair & Glasses — I kept my hair slicked back to show off the structured neckline of the corset. And yes — this rogue wears glasses (without them I can't see). Adventurers come in all forms, and honestly, it made the look even more me.

Bringing the Rogue to Life

The best part of this cosplay wasn’t just wearing it — it was being it. Walking among the stalls, browsing treasures, and chatting with other makers while dressed as my rogue made the whole experience feel like stepping into a quest hub. The Kent Magical Market already has that magical, medieval energy, but in cosplay it felt like I was living out one of my D&D sessions or WoW storylines in real time.

This was just the first outing for the Blackthorn Banshee rogue, but I can already feel the character taking shape. I can’t wait to evolve the outfit, add more pieces (maybe some chainmaille touches of my own making), and bring her along to more events.

⚔️ After all — once a rogue steps out of the shadows, there’s no going back.
